Woo hoo!! Let's keep this FReepathon rolling!! Go, FReepers, GO!!
We've met and exceeded the amount raised to the halfway point in our last quarter and we're now over 50% and we're still about even with the pace. We shaved a couple days off each FReepathon in the last 3 quarters and if we can keep up the pace, we have a chance to shave off a day or two this time, too. Great job, FReepers!!
If you have not yet made your donation for this month, please get it in today and let's make this FReepathon ROCK!
Go, FReepers, GO!
Please click the secure server link above or donate by mail to:
Free Republic - PO Box 9771 - Fresno, CA 93794
Make it a Monthly if you can. We have some very generous FReeper sponsors kicking in an extra ten bucks for every New Monthly signed up. And we have 10 new monthlies signed up so far this quarter!!
Or send in a hundred dollars or more per quarter and join I_be_tc's growing list of 300 Club patriots. I_be_tc sends in $100 per quarter and challenges 300 others to do the same. If we could get 300 FReepers to send in $100 per quarter, these FReepathons would complete much faster. And we have received 106 donations of $100 or more so far this quarter!!
Thank you very much.
God bless

The Great State of Maine
***
"Maine is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and south, New Hampshire to the west, and the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the northwest and New Brunswick to the northeast. Maine is both the northernmost and easternmost portion of New England. It is known for its sceneryits jagged, mostly rocky coastline, its low, rolling mountains, its heavily forested interior and picturesque waterwaysas well as for its seafood cuisine, especially lobsters and clams.
For thousands of years, indigenous peoples were the only inhabitants of the territory that is now Maine. At the time of European encounter, several Algonquian-speaking peoples inhabited the area. The first European settlement in Maine was by the French in 1604 on Saint Croix Island, by Pierre Dugua, Sieur de Mons. The first English settlement in Maine, the short-lived Popham Colony, was established by the Plymouth Company in 1607. A number of English settlements were established along the coast of Maine in the 1620s, although the rugged climate, deprivations, and conflict with the local peoples caused many to fail over the years.
As Maine entered the 18th century, only a half dozen European settlements survived. Patriot and British forces contended for Maine's territory during the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Maine was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until 1820, when it voted to secede from Massachusetts. On March 15, 1820, it was admitted to the Union as the 23rd state under the Missouri Compromise. Maine is the 39th most extensive and the 41st most populous of the 50 United States."source: Wikipedia
