North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for a "full combat posture" as state media yesterday released photos showing missiles being fired during a long-range strike drill conducted by Pyongyang.
The photos came a day after it tested two short-range missiles. Analysts said the regime may have developed a new missile that is easier to hide, harder to strike down and capable of hitting all of South Korea.

Crap, looks like things are heating up again. China and now possibly Russia are not going to give up the leverage they derive from the little rocket man. Time for us to arm Japan.

Yeah, NK is really going to target SK after having numerous one-on-one meetings with them and opening up lines to possible reunification.
You are watching a movie folks. Trump told Kim to do some last-minute sabre-rattling to throw off the Deep State and China and the NK generals who think Kim is weakening.

It's actually common sense.
Why would NK start targeting SK when they have had numerous summits, including opening a rail line and exchanging family members between the two countries?
I just think Kim has to put on a strong face for his generals and people. You have to remember that North Koreans are completely brainwashed.

No, it is not necessarily from Xi.
And yes, it is a test of President Trump.
He wants to see how much he either overreacts or underreacts. Course, he also wants more shit again.

Case in point: Sunshine Policy under appeasement regimes of Roh Mu Hyon and Kim Dae Jung, and provocations and attacks by the North nevertheless.

Your posts Does. Not. Compute.
My central premise can't be refuted.
NK isn't going to suddenly threaten SK after having numerous summits and opening up lines between the 2 countries.

As it turns out now, as has been revealed, there were actually TWO not one, ballistic missile launches on last Saturday 4 May, the start of the current round of staged/graduated provocations and attemted shakedowns/tantrums.

You still aren’t considering the pressure Kim is facing from his generals, as well as his allies in China and Russia.

No. Unfortunately, it is not just Kabuki, but it is quite predictable and typical.
Rather, it is a violation of UN Sanctions and Resolutions and defies good faith. It also violates the Panmunjong Accord of last year signed by North and South.
It is/was also predictable, only because they have done this as far back as we have had a relationship with them. We don't have to underreact or overreact, but it should be accepted that the limits of diplomacy with such a regime may well be approaching the final stages before obsolescence and irrelevance--and we shouldn't try to beat a dead horse. We never dismissed any such provocation like yesterday, ever, (to my 21 year recollection) here on FR during any time during the Clinton or Obama regimes. We are just being consistent. They are who they are regardless which Administration we have in power.
