The Senate confirmed Michael Park to be a judge on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday, making him the 39th circuit court judge to be confirmed under President Trump in a process on a record pace that is steadily reshaping the bench.
Judge Park joins Joseph Bianco, confirmed earlier this week, on that bench, bringing the number of Republican-appointed active judges on the chief 2nd Circuit panel to six. With two more vacancies by this summer, Mr. Trump will soon have a chance to flip control of the circuit, which currently has seven Democratic appointees.
Mr. Trump flipped the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals earlier this year, taking it from a 7-4 Democratic edge in judicial appointees in 2017 to a 7-6 Republican edge among active judges. Two judges are taking senior status over the next couple of months, giving the president a chance to make more gains on that panel.
The circuit courts are below the Supreme Court but, because so few cases end up before the justices, the circuits are where many consequential cases are decided.
That makes Republicans’ focus on circuit judge confirmations huge, both sides say.
“It’s a generational change. This president is reshaping the courts for a generation, and thank goodness that he is because we need pro-Constitution, rule-of-law judges. It’s an extraordinary opportunity,” said Sen. Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican who joined the Judiciary Committee this year.

Before Mr. Trump took office, Democrats had a 90-71 advantage in appointments of active judges among all the circuits. Republican-appointed judges now lead by a 90-83 margin.
Democrats say Mr. Trump has moved too hastily by putting people on the bench who shouldn’t be there.
Judiciary Chair Graham honors the blue slip tradition for district courts, so vacancies in lib states go unfilled.
“Republican” judges are typically 50-50 at best with their decisions, while Democrat-appointed judges are 100% reliably liberal with theirs.
Democrats blocked judges for two years. Focus was on appeals court judges.
THIS is the real long-term impact of Trump’s presidency...remaking the judiciary and ridding us of a whole generation of activist judges.
All the other things are important, too. But, THIS is the real crux of what will be his legacy.

Not counting senior status there are currently 9-R’s and 15-D’s with 4 vacancies.
Filling those 4 will make it 13 vs 15 and President Trump WILL flip it handily in the next 6 years..
Reshaping the judiciary will be Trump’s greatest legacy. It’s clear the swamp has not been and will not be drained and the border is more open than ever. Hopefully the new Judges will help turn this country back to its roots.
Flipping the ninth will get the most attention. By then he will have already flipped 2 or 3 and secured many others. MM is getting them through slowly but surely.

Have been watching it. By MM taking it slowly the Rats are not getting too excited. Sort of like putting Frogs in a pot and turning up the heat gradually.

What good is it to bring indictments only to have a lower level court dismiss the charges?

Isn’t it interesting. Republicans overwhelmingly approved most of 0bama’s appointments. They said a President has a right to make appointments.
