The newborn was found Tuesday afternoon, abandoned on a dumpster in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side of Chicago. A mother and her daughter brought the infant to the nearby firehouse in the 1700 block of North Pulaski.
“It’s a good thing they made the right decision and brought the baby to the firehouse,” said paramedic fire chief Patrick Fitzmaurice. “It was rush hour. They wouldn’t have made it to the hospital in time.”
When the baby arrived, firefighters scrambled, administering CPR, trying to warm the infant and coordinating with police to make sure an ambulance could get through traffic.
And at the hospital, Fitzmaurice bargained with God and prayed like so many others before him.
The baby was later transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital. Police were investigating information from the family of Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui, 19, who recently disappeared from her Little Village high school. DNA tests were planned.
When Fitzmaurice was a kid on the job years ago, he answered a call of a woman whose children had died. She’d scalded them both with cauldrons of boiling water.
“She had this thousand-yard stare in her eyes. And I thought, God will somebody explain this to me? I almost quit. And the other day, in the ER with the baby, I said ‘God, if you don’t save this one, I’m done. It’ll be my last day.’ But he lived. Death wanted him, but this day God said ‘no.’ He just said no.”

Worth the read
Some humans, or rather, sub-humans should just be put down on the spot.
High on that list are those who abandon babies to die.
Democrats will surely be outraged that another child escaped Dr. Moloch at Planned Parenthood.
Truth is Darkness is in the heart of Man and Hell is here.
But God is also in the heart of Man and a bit of heaven was near, waiting for this child.
May God bless those that prayed and saved this baby.

Having a baby is a very Trumatic experience
Many times the mother literally loses her mind
Until we can make the word adoption as popular or ,maybe 100 times as popular as abortion, situations like this will occur
It is the culture that demeans life
New York style sanctioned/legal abortion. What’s the problem?? Babies don’t deserve to live if the mom wants to kill it. I don’t get it Dems(?).
Fine line between this and what is actually law in state sponsored infanticide. Our society is going to Hell.
Never after having a baby did I lose my mind. Particularly never even thought of harming my children. I call BS. Anyone who hurts an infant was ill or evil to begin with.
People stopping everything, moving heaven and earth to save the most fragile life, is just basic morality. Can’t imagine those that would argue that it’s not life until and if the mother decides she wants it. Something’s missing there.

God does not make bargains. But He may answer our prayers and in this case He did.
If the “mother” had killed the child in an abortion clinic, she’d be given the keys to the city.
Or outright murder them. Especially their own babies.
I noticed the “bargaining” thing, too. Not Fitzmaurice’s words, though. The absence of quotes suggests the writer of the article wrongly characterized the prayers of the EMT Chief and the rest of the gathered group as bargaining with God. Oddly, he did that three times, none with quotes.
Still, it was a beautiful, moving article. In the Chicago Tribune, of all places. Another miracle....which will no doubt beget more, in the hearts and minds touched by this story.
