As has been the case before every major world conflict a majority of citizens believe that peace will persist indefinitely and, as a civilian myself, I tend to agree that a large scale war with a major superpower like China or Russia is unlikely. Regardless of my views, the United States Military is spending billions to prepare for war against China in the hopes that being fully prepared for war is the most effective means of preserving peace.

Why in the world would we worry about what a war with China would do to this country. They can’t touch the damage Democrats are doing right now and we aren’t doing a damn thing about that?

China and Russia are more like very strong regional powers than “superpowers”. When they do go to war, its usually against some weak neighbor they can swallow up almost instantly and not some place half a world away were they are going to get bogged down.
China gets involved only when they’re attacked or threatened. E.g. Korean War and dumbass Macarthur sent out boys in there thinking it would be a romp...
