A man in Los Angeles' posh Holmby Hills neighborhood was hiding a stash of weapons large enough to outfit an army.
The Los Angeles Police Department busted Girard Damien Saenz, 57, with as many as 1,000 weapons piled up in his home. Authorities also found massive stockpiles of ammunition.
Saenz, who was living in the home alone, was booked for unlawful transportation and giving, lending or selling assault weapons. Additional charges may be added later, including federal charges, authorities said. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
"I had never seen so many weapons in my career of 31 years," said LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez. "That's such a big arsenal in a residence like this, in this type of neighborhood. It's astounding."

Too bad this man was not smart enough to know who he could trust with an undocumented private sale.
Undocumented private sale in CA means you could lose all of them. Like this guy.
I see two Thompson sub-machine guns in the pic at the article. If those are original to circa WW2 or prior they are worth a pretty penny no?
It would be interesting to dig into this and get to the bottom of it. My bet is the ATF knew pretty much exactly what he had and sent some one in to entrap him because they didnt like what he had.
If they are the full auto, yep, 30-50 grands each. The ATF is kin on melting these serial numbers and not reselling them in the market.
I mean, think about it. If the DOJ and FBI (and CIA?) can spy on and attempt to entrap a Presidential Candidate who wouldnt they?
I want to know the ethnicity of the home OWNER.
Saw a video taken from a helicopter or drone. it appeared the LEOs were going through the piles of weapons and picking out their favorites.
Very unfortunate to see the police pile the guns up haphazardly. The damage was likely substantial if any are collector’s items or new.
The good stuff will slowly migrate out the back door of the police dept. evidence locker.
.
“it appeared the LEOs were going through the piles of weapons and picking out their favorites”
It’s called “cataloging”.
The really good stuff never makes the catalog.
The man had some real jewels.
Okay, legally owned the guns. They say he was illegally selling but offer no details. These look more like collectors items than gang-related. Will be curious to see the details. Hopefully, he is legit, beats the charges, then sadly will faces years to get them back, get compensated for damages to them, etc.
I know of a man who owned almost 10,000 firearms when he died. This seems like a nothing burger story wrapped up as something sensational!
I hope he gets good legal representation and gets to keep the guns.
Much more could be said, but I have to get somethings done at work today.
“The good stuff will slowly migrate out the back door of the police dept. evidence locker.”
The good stuff will never make it to the evidence locker, and there will be no record it ever existed.
The home belonged to Cynthia Beck; no one can find her.
Beck owns —or owned— 20 other homes in the Los Angeles area.
Beck was the lover of J. Paul Getty, billionaire.
Some people suspect she’s actually DEAD and others are managing her money.
Was this guy just SQUATTING long-term..?
She also owns a $9m Malibu beachfront that never has anyone inside; people sometimes wander in there and make videos.
Makes for a great 1950s film noir.
Google Cynthia Beck
Those are semi auto thompsons. value $ 900-1500
Someone should get a pic of the LAPD arsenal. They have many many machine guns and heavy military weapons. Why do the police need rooms full of machine guns?
Army staffing reduced to 1,000 soldiers.
Probably 3-4 times this much at the local Mosque, but some people are just more equal than others. And the pigs are the most equal of all.
