Proposal to spend 25% of EU budget on climate change
BBC News ^ | May 8, 2019

Eight European countries have called for an ambitious strategy to tackle climate change – and to spend a quarter of the entire EU budget on fighting it.

The joint statement says the EU should have net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 "at the latest".

It was signed by France, Belgium, Denmark, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.

The group says their plan can "go hand in hand with prosperity" and "set an example for other countries to follow."

But not everyone is on board - there are 28 countries in the EU, and several of those absent from the joint position statement are significant players - including Germany.

The position of the eight countries is that climate change has "profound implications for the future of humanity" and that its impacts are already apparent - citing "the heat waves and scorching fires of last summer".

The group also say that their citizens are clearly concerned "as shown by the recent mobilisation of young people" - in an apparent reference to the wave of walk-outs and marches by schoolchildren across the continent.

Siphon all they money they can out of their citizens for big bureaucratic bull sh#t so government officials, bureaucratic heads, and government workers get richer while the people’s wealth and the economy tanks.

It has NOTHING to do with the weather (AKA phony “climate change”).

It has everything to do with achieving the ultimate goal of Global Totalitarian Government, the ultimate poverty-and-misery creator.

FTA: The joint statement says the EU should have net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 "at the latest".

What does net-zero mean exactly?

FTA: The group says their plan can "go hand in hand with prosperity"

We will spend our way to prosperity...never worked in the past, but it will certainly work this time.

Follow the money...and you will find out that it somehow ends up in the pockets of those calling for climate change spending.

Funny how that works.

Like Obama's green energy billions. We can rest assured that Obama has some fat offshore bank accounts filled with proceeds skimmed off from those expenditures.

All your efforts and money will be going to fending off the islamic invasions.

That too. The intersectionality of totalitarian Islam and European socialism will be too much to overcome. The continent has always been a slaughterhouse.

"scorching fires"

I have noted that also.

In prior years, fires would never scorch.

“as a general principle” the EU budget should not fund anything which would add to climate emissions.

I think the USA and Russia should help them with their endeavor, Halt ALL Exports of Petroleum Products to these 8 countries in the EU, they can freeze to death next winter for Global Warming.

If 25% of the budget is going to this new idea, what’s being cut? They can’t magically raise revenues by 25%.

".... zero greenhouse emissions by 2050...."

By 2050? What happened to the world ending as we know it in 12 years?

No wonder the general population doesn't believe in climate change.

The climate change game might as well be 3-card Monty. Where to goals keep changing or pushed down the road. People see through this con now.

The issue is never the issue with the Left. It is always about their wet dream of a socialist revolution.

They have money for climate change, but they can’t meet the 2% of GDP for defense. Time to scrap NATO. Europe is wealthy enough to provide for its own defense.

They never provide for their own Defense. They wait until a threat or invasion occurs and come crying to us. Check out your history about the French Maginot Line.
