Meanwhile, Graham and his Democratic Senate counterpart, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, discussed the economic peril that lies ahead if the U.S. chooses to ignore the threat global warming poses to our economic security.
Coastal regions are particularly at risk, including Graham's home state, he said. A study published last year by the Union of Concerned Scientists showed that areas on Hilton Head Island and Johns Island rank in the top 50 nationally for the highest number of homes that will flood regularly by 2045.
"You need to think ahead and defend our coastlines now," he said, referencing a study by Freddie Mac that warned rising sea levels likely will destroy billions of dollars in property. This looming threat would lead to a steep decline in coastal property values that could have serious repercussions for the broader U.S. economy. "As that risk works its way to the backend, it will be as bad as the mortgage meltdown in 2008, they say, because of the lag time. If we dont act now, were going to get hit later."
When asked about deniers of climate change, including those within his own party, Graham dismissed them. "If I were sick and 9 out of 10 doctors said, 'You need to do something', I would do it. Count me among those who believe in it."
He also said that the future of his party depends on working to find a bipartisan solution, namely because younger voters consider global warming a key issue. "It's a real problem, not just for the planet, but for Republicans," he said. "If you want this party to grow, 18- to 35-year-olds believe in climate change, so you better find a way to get them involved."

Linda, sit down and shut up. That sound is NOT science.
Climate change is indeed real. The fallacy is that we are causing it and we can “fix” it.
This is all about a Carbon Tax that the GOPe has waiting in the wings.
So...we all need to bankrupt ourselves in order to save the wealthy owners of coastal real estate?
I have an idea: let them pay for it.
Thanks to Hot Hunt for the realities versus the end of humans due to Gorebull Warming BS Predictions.
Climate changes, Lindsey.
Maybe we should solve the vexing problems of the sun being yellow and water making one feel wet while we are at it.
Oh, and Lindsey, putting politicians in charge of fixing any actual problem ensures that the problem will never be fixed, so I am not interested in any of your solutions to a non-existent problem.
After you fix the border and our country being invavded by illegal aliens, if you can, then you can sell your credibility as it relates to fixing other ACTUAL problems, but until such time, you have no credibility.
You’ve done NOTHING. I would not even hire you to cut my grass, Lindsey, because I don’t believe that you have the know how.
Bush League Republicans MUST become extinct before the Republic does.
..or that it is a problem at all.
“If you want this party to grow, 18- to 35-year-olds believe in climate change, so you better find a way to get them involved.”
Many younger people believe in a lot of liberal causes, becaue they haven’t matured yet. So what is he saying, that the GOP needs to be more liberal?
What other liberal causes are to be embraced? Live birth abortion? All this transsexual sex change/men in women’s locker rooms business? Reparations for slavery? 70% or higher tax rates such as espoused by Ocasio-Cortez?
If his criteria are that we need to pander to immature young people to get their political support, then just how far is the Republican party supposed to go?
Nothing says “I’m really stupid” like buying into the climate hoax.
I have always believed that we as a species have the potential to really mess up our immediate surrounding environment. And who wants that?
But destroying the planet? I dont think so.
His inner McCain is coming out!
What an idiot!

The Earth has been warming and cooling for four billion years.
Get used to it.
The climate changed billions of years ago. The climate changed millions of years ago. The climate changes today.
If human caused warming is real then the earth is to sensitive to fix or control.
