Would someone please tell me WHY measles is such a “really big deal” in 2019?? = All of the kids in my family had Red Measles, chicken pox, mumps & German Measles TOGETHER (My aunt was an RN, saw to it that we were all exposed & nursed us all at once, when we were kids.) about 1958-59.

Has measles (and those other childhood diseases of my boyhood) SUDDENLY become “deadly” OR is this more mass hysteria, that was caused by the “yellow press” & that LIES as often as they tell the whole truth??

Just curious, TMN78247

You’re not alone in asking the question. I have no idea why it’s become such a large issue today except for the push by the pharmaceutical companies. Never forget how powerful they are. They can make any occurrence into an epidemic. Bottom line, you know!

Myself and three siblings also experienced all the childhood diseases you mentioned but it was more like the mid to late 1930’s. I have been reading old diaries of my mothers and just today I ran across the entry where my two sisters and brother had chicken pox in 1938 and my mother wrote that I was fine - I was the youngest and only 2 at the time. The next day she wrote, “The baby has chicken pox now.”
