If this was Sarah Palin, the media would have dispatched 50 reporters to Westchester to investigate whether anyone ever saw her near a garbage disposal.
A garbage disposal is terrifying...who knew?
Well anyone with an IQ that reaches the “trainable” level, should be able to run a garbage disposal safely. When I had toddlers about, just to be on the safe side, I unplugged the garbage disposal when I was not finished cleaning up the kitchen, and then plug it in when I was cooking/cleaning. I was young then, and getting down on under the sink to unplug the disposal was a quick easy chore. Personally, I would rather do without my dishwasher than my garbage disposal. I do compost the bigger scraps for my garden, but I would hate to have to deal with all the icky little stuff or have it clog up the dishwasher. AOC is an idiot if she feels she cannot safely operate a garbage disposal or that it is environmentally damaging.
Maybe she doesn’t, it is my understanding that on the east coast they are not very popular. However, west of the Rockies (and probably west of the Mississippi), they are de rigueur. Here on the left coast, perhaps for the first time, she appears very silly. She would do well to remember, should she decide to run for national office (God forbid), that way out west (and maybe way out midwest) garbage disposals are considered a necessity for everyone who has kitchen and actually cooks in it. If she tries to create federal legislation to ban garbage disposals, she actually might kill off the democrat party for good. Silly silly girl!

Whilst living in Chicago, NEVER once saw a garb age disposal in ANY of the apartments on the Gold Coast; though I did/do know people who did have then...but they lived in houses in the city or burbs of Ill.!
AOC is an IDIOT, stupid beyond words; however, on this one topic, I have to agree with her...they are "terrifying" and I sgtill don't have one in my house.

I have one now, I hate it. I am thinking of replacing my sink anyway, so it will eventually go. Grinds up forks!

AOC is a lunatic; however, you don't 1) understand what it's like to never have had a garbage disposal 2) why those who've never had one might not be comfortable with having one 3) have the ability to even begin to try to grasp WHY others might not want one.

I actually found, and called, the agent who sold the Yorktown Heights house that AOC grew up in. I confirmed that the house contained a garbage disposal when it was sold.
You know, REAL “investigative journalism.”
