Or at least watch the movie (I think there was a movie?)

I only caught a very small part of Farenheit 451 many, many years ago.

You might first try the BBC version aired in December of 1954, starring the inimitable Peter Cushing as "Winston Smith."

The 1956 film version isn't bad, either! It stars Edmond O'Brian as "Smith" and "Michael Redgrave" as the Inner Party Member who brainwashes him.

Of course, you should also watch the Richard Burton performance, filmed in the actual year of 1984 in London.
