Although Ukraine and other democracies (many ex-socialist) worldwide may have problems with Trump and Russia, they’re probably even more uneasy with the prospect of left-wing socialists gaining power in the USA. Especially those like Bernie who love Cuba and the old Soviet Union.

Hence, they needed another means via the FISA warrants against Carter Page which allowed them to carry on spying on Trump and the campaign via the two hops rule.

They really don’t care about that. They just want Uncle Sam’s cash/loan guarantees/visa waivers/whatever.
I think in this story Ukraine has problem with just Manafort. They want their stolen money back, but since this has gotten so much bigger they can’t sue now without it becoming political.
