Does the idea of Russian naval and air bases in Cuba and Venezuela trouble you? Are you OK with Russian submarines routinely operating in the Carribean just a short missile flight away?
1. Russian Navel and air bases:
There is no permanent deployment of Russian assets in Venezuela. Russian aircraft occasionally transit there, but they are tracked every inch of the way. And there are no large scale ordnance depots.
2. Russian subs routinely operating in the Caribbean:
They do that now, without Venezuelan bases. They’re called nukes and they patrol the eastern seaboard, with at least one on station 7x24x365.
Now, if they were make permanent stationing there that would be cause to run them out.
But that’s not what’s happening.
It’s nothing at all like how we have surrounded Russia with combat and strategic assets. Not even close.
I contend you have put up a straw man.
