Michael Avenatti pleads not guilty in federal wire, bank fraud case

Michael Avenatti, the former attorney for porn actress Stormy Daniels, pleaded not guilty Monday to federal charges that he allegedly stole millions of dollars from his clients, failed to pay taxes and lied in bankruptcy cases.

The 48-year-old Avenatti, who was indicted earlier this month on 36 counts including wire and bank fraud, appeared in federal court for an arraignment in Santa Ana, California on Monday.

Asked to enter a plea, Avenatti told the judge, "Not guilty to all charges."

The trial is set to begin on June 25 with a status hearing scheduled for June 15.

Prosecutors accused Avenatti of embezzling settlement funds and proceeds from other matters he handled for five clients and doled out small portions, sometimes labeling them as advances to prevent thefts from being discovered.

Avenatti, who briefly toyed with the idea of a 2020 presidential run and even visited Iowa, has denied the charges. Ahead of the arraignment, he said he had made powerful enemies and would fight the case.

“One hundred percent not guilty” or just plain “not guilty”?

Justice moving especially fast. Normally it is years before an average crime goes to trail. What gives?

I’d say they have him good if they want a trial that fast.

Should have gotten on “his” jet and flown out while the flying was good. Looks like they’re really out to get him and not give him much wiggle room. If he gets convicted in CA, my bet is he’ll not get appellate bail and he’ll be making his NY court appearances via the luxuries of Con Air.

Now that’s a pleasant thought and in my view that couldn’t happen to a sleazier guy. :^)

I also think they suspect him of being a one many crime machine who’s capable of just about anything and very much want to shut him down. Also, he’s done his level best to antagonize PDJT and these cases are a great way to send a message to certain deep staters about what’s likely to happen to them if they don’t cooperate with ongoing investigations.

CPL made a crucial mistake. He came out into the public eye far too much. Cockroaches like him are best if they stay in the shadows.

He got on many people’s excrement lists, including some prominent DemonShits’ lists, when he total discredited the attack on Justice Kavanaugh with the fake accusation about organizing mass orgies with teen sex slaves. Might be one reason why he’s having so much trouble finding a lawyer.
