Many voters dismissing Republicans’ warnings about socialism [barf]
Associated Press ^ | April 29, 2019 | Alan Fram

In this scruffy, high-desert town encircled by prairies and potato farms, Sen. Cory Gardner drew shouts of approval last week for his message that Democrats are shoving the country toward socialism.

“That’s not what government is or what it should be,” he told about 200 Alamosa County Republicans at a barbecue fundraiser in a National Guard armory. “We have to stand up and fight. Are you going to join me in this fight?”

For Gardner and other Republicans making the same pitch , including President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the key question is whether it will attract moderate voters, not just their conservative stalwarts. Based on interviews with over three dozen Coloradans last week from Denver’s suburbs south to this town in the flat San Luis Valley, the argument has yet to take root, though the GOP has 18 months to sell it before Election Day 2020.

Few volunteered a drift toward socialism as a major worry, with health care and living costs cited far more frequently. Several said capitalism was too embedded in the U.S. to be truly threatened and Republicans were using socialism to stir unease with Democrats by raising the specter of the old, repressive Soviet Union and today’s chaotic Venezuela. […]

Yet when asked directly whether socialism was a concern, many expressed a wariness of injecting more government into people’s lives. …

“...dismissing Republicans’ warnings about socialism [barf],”

Maybe barfworthy, but it’s the truth. The constituency that wants socialism in this country is robust, and its growing.

If that were true, Hillary would be president.

The fake media has taken off their masks in earnest and openly advocates socialism, is the difference here.

Modern American politics: “People, who don’t pay taxes” voting for “people who never did” to send them to DC to tax everyone else.

Thanks to Empire_of_Liberty for the above observation/reality.

Gardner needs to be replaced with a real Republican.
Bush League Republicans are why we have 30 million illegal aliens voting for socialism.

They're not the majority. Yet.

But young people keep drinking the Kool-Aid and the Grim Reaper takes a few more of us every day.

Obamacare was passed, even though everyone knew it would be a s***show, specifically to get the middle class to clamor for gubmint-run, single-payer, socialized healthcare.

Socialism is coming to the USA and it’s going to be a dumpster fire.

Wow, a whole 36 folks, more than likely, Liberals that live in the Denver suburbs. Denver a city that is seeing crime go up, homelessness go through the roof and slowly slipping to SanFran and Seattle status. But, I guess the 200 that supported Gardner, even though he’s a mess in his own right, don’t count. Because the AP, and the rest of the liberal media/Left, knows that it doesn’t matter what anyone outside of Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs think anymore. There are sufficient enough, liberal numbers in those 3 cities to dictate everything that happens in that state.

These statements contradict one another.

Damn little in the body of this article actually supports that headline, in fact, the contrary is true.

Typical of AP.

AP is one of the true propoganda organs of the left and government deep-state.

I read it just like I used to read Pravda or China’s People’s Daily.

The fact they raised the issue, means it is something that concerns the left and deep-state.

A P is already busy trying to hide the Democrat candidates’ promise of Socialism for All. Good luck. President Trump will be on the campaign trail painting the 2020 election as Capitalism versus Socialism. He will win.

I know a lot of ignorant people who believe America is already socialist. Social Security, Welfare, paved roads, etc. “It takes a village.” They use this as the bridge to all the new social programs they believe America OWES to its citizens. Free health care. Free college. Free everything.

“They do it in Denmark, so why can’t we?”

The usual way to refute that is to say who is going to pay for all that, but I’m beginning to believe that’s a path doomed to failure. Leftists and ignoramuses have no concern for where the money comes from.

The debate needs to be framed as being enslaved by a Leviathan government versus living free like Americans of a hundred years ago.

Sadly, I think a lot of people these days would rather have Leviathan...

Ultimately, it can all be laid at the feet of our communist public education and daytime indoctrination system.

Why the barf alert?

A Liberty Bell is sounding an ALARM!

In this country by the time you hit 65 or when you choose to collect Social Security you are then technically a socialist even if it is by proxy. Our tax dollars go to pay for public schools for welfare and other socialist programs that in essence makes us a quasi-socialist country!

Socialism - Khrushchev once said, is being fed to us little by little, and one day we will wake up and be communists! Khrushchev might not have been wrong (if modern observations indicate)... and McCarthy was wronged.

So here we are, legally (according to lawyers) our hands are tied because the First Amendment says that we can say anything about anybody or anything that we want to. Even if it destroys the constitutional republic that we live under. That has got to be an incorrect translation of the First Amendment. Especially when following the First Amendment leads to our own demise as a country, as a Democratic Republic, as a Constitutional Republic, and enslaves the very people that the document was written to protect.
