I have a family member who is likewise a very smart guy, with very conservative values. He was, however, a public school teacher. As such he religiously voted Democrat for decades, for the simple reason that doing so preserved his regular pay increases, Cadillac benefits package, insane level of job security and unreal pension. Drove us all nuts.

Sorry to hear that. I hope my conservative daughter stays true since she will be a school teacher. She knows that her dad will give no quarter in this area. :)

I have a few dumbasses in my family as well. However, I am glad to say that they make up a small portion of the family.
