Reminds me of that child's game "Telephone" where you sit ten kids in a circle and the first kid gives a message to the next and the message passes around the circle ultimately coming out far different from the original message.

So first the Rabbi turned to see the gunman looking at him and he threw his hands up to plead with the guy to stop and the guy blew his fingers off.

Then, the next story, the gunman shot the Rabbi's fingers off and then turned and shot the woman.

Story three... The woman dove in front of the Rabbi to protect him, taking a bullet and saving his life.

Four... The Rabbi "struggled" with the shooter, trying to get the gun and subsequently had his fingers blown off.
