Rosenstein offers biting defense of Russia investigation, jabs Obama administration
usa today via yahoo ^

Posted on 04/26/2019 9:08:18 AM PDT by janetjanet998

"The previous (Obama) administration chose not to publicize the full story about Russian computer hackers and social media trolls, and how they relate to a broader strategy to undermine America," Rosenstein said, adding that the FBI later disclosed classified evidence about the investigation to ranking legislators and their staffers only to have details "selectively" leaked to reporters.

No doubt Rosenstein knew Obama’s FBI saw the Russian interference.

No doubt he played along with the dumb-down tactic of not informing the Trump campaign.

In doing so, he tacitly allowed the FBI to set a honeypot for the Russians to get bolder and contact the Trump campaign.

The FBI then, with the FISA court, could spy on the Trump campaign and create the “insurance policy” that would either sully the campaign or get Trump impeached if elected.

There will be indictments for this soft coup attempt.

Rosenstein is still on the job because no one better will be confirmed by the useless GOP Senate. It’s simply not worth the battle to fire him and confirm his replacement under those circumstances.

Huh? We have a permanent Attorney General now, William Barr, who has already been confirmed. Rosenstein was just a placeholder and is no longer needed.

The Russian interference was with the DNC and Hillary, not Trump. That's why they didn't inform the Trump campaign.

Rosenstein is an enigma in this entire thing. There’s more to him than we know. It’s very strange that he’s been able to hang on this long while all others have been fired or quit, and even stand with Barr more recently.

Plus, President Trump seems to have confidence in him, so let's sit tight.

Rosenstein Lashes Out at Obama and the Media, Defends Trump in First Remarks Since Mueller Report

But he saved his harshest criticism for the press, which he accused of blatantly sensationalizing the facts surrounding his involvement in the two-year inquiry. “Some of the nonsense that passes for breaking news today would not be worth the paper it was printed on, if anybody bothered to print it,” he said. “One silly question that I get from reporters is, ‘Is it true that you got angry and emotional a few times over the past few years?’ Heck yes! Didn’t you?”

Rosenstein signed one of the four FISA renewals. Until that gets resolved, he is suspect. Period!

Rosenstein’s replacement will have to be confirmed by the Senate. Firing Rotten Rod guarantees another weeks/months long beltway drama and POTUS has decided he doesn’t want that. Better to let him leave on his own accord.

But his replacement is not a necessity. There's nothing that Rosenstein can do over what the Attorney General decides.

I agree and trust President Trump on this decision, just disagree with your reasoning for why he hasn't been fired. More likely it's because Trump feels keeping him close and under control is more important than firing him.

Remember, Rosenstein signed one of the 4 phony FISA applications - he is compromised.

Every rat bastard is running for the tall grass. When I’m hunting rabbits, and some one, half a mile away, takes a shot, I don’t look toward the shooter, I look toward the tall grass and brambles.

Go back to the early 1990s and notice who worked together to bring down the Five Families (Mafia). Hint: They included Rudy Giuliani, Rod Rosenstein, Robert Mueller, Dana Boente, Robert Barr, and a private citizen and honest businessman named Donald Trump. While everyone has been pulling their hair out over diversionary side shows, President Trump has put the band back together.

Easily debunked unrolled Twitter nonsense.

Mueller and Rosenstein are not whiteouts. The "team" is not back together.

Mueller and Rosenstein, acted outside of Trump's control and participated in the insurance policy. And it took Trump two long years to remove their leverage.

Ohhhh. That was fabulous. Great video. I am still lol and angry at the same time watching it and thinking about all that has gone on. This whole incident should never have happened.

He theoretically couldn’t be fired while the DOJ was still involved in the Mueller probe because Trump would be obstructing justice.

He is leaving and desperately wants to clean off the muck that clings to him.

Theoretically Trump COULD fire Rosenstein and Mueller and it wouldn't be obstruction.

Trump didn't fire Mueller and Rosenstein because he didn't want to be (falsely) accused of obstructing justice by his enemies.

Rush Limbaugh, ever the apologist for the Stablishment, today used a caller as a pretext to conclude that Rosenstein may after all be “on the side of the angels.”

Rosenstein had multiple, serious, inarguable conflicts of interest - far more and far worse than did Sessions. It was never his prerogative to control the special counsel investigation - regardless of his motivation, regardless of Trump’s preference.

Those who relish the idea of White Hats undoing the enemy with their own weapons are those who relish the Rule of Skullduggery, not the Rule of Law.

If that is what we have, then after Trump inevitably leaves office, DC will quickly revert, and be worse than ever.

Yep. Rush was a big supporter of Rubio including Rubio's time with the gang of eight amnesty fools.

Rush was a (very subtle) never Trumper right up until the time he figured it wasn't a good idea for his career.

He's come around on Trump but he'll always be a Bush league republican.
