Now sure how I survived childhood.
I had measles, mumps, German measles (rubella), whooping cough, chicken pox, scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, several bouts of influenza, ring worm and I even survived being bitten by a water moccasin (for which I received anti-venom, a tetanus shot and a bunch of rabies shots to the belly).
Anyone who doesn’t get a vaccination to protect against these diseases is an idiot.

My mom and her family nearly died of scarlet fever. They all had lingering affects. You can see in her childhood pictures of before and after. She had wild curly hair in the before pictures but darker straight hair in the after. Thankfully, it was just her hair.
