If you line up ten-thousand guys in this situation, I suspect that only one-percent can come up with court costs/fees. Those will be the white-collar convicted guys.

how do you become an ‘ex felon’- i thought becoming a felon meant you are a felon for life?

Won’t pass court scrutiny.
Could be interpreted as a poll tax.

This would likely exclude 75% or more of felons, and in any case, any claims or lawsuits by victims could delay their votes indefinitely. Not a bad idea for a GOP-linked non-profit.

This is the libs attempt to mask and cloak President Trump’s First Step Act - the program for parole of certain cats of felons. (and his setting aside the month of April by PDJT as Second Chance Month)

Well, liberals, including liberals here believe that once a person walks out of a jail yard, they have fully paid their debt to society and should be treated like nothing ever happened. I happen to not agree with that line of thinking and believe that the punishment meted out at the time of conviction should not be softened up, just to make ourselves feel better, and for a felony in many states, that includes permanently losing the right to vote. As far as I’m concerned, if you want to keep voting, then how about not committing the felonies which put that right at risk?

But maybe I’m just not ‘with it’ as far as the ‘Social Justice’ and ‘Criminal Justice Reform’ movements are concerned. In any case, let’s see how the sides line up here.

Such to stop with just ex-felons — or to become the modern version of the poll tax?
