Your gubmint cares! Now pay attention!
This is totally rediculous! People will obviously just not pay attention to it. Washington state is becoming a laughing stock to the rest of the country with stupid stuff like this.
The nanny state rambles on.

What about a pencil-neck geek like Adam Schiff??
"Is this another dwarf joke? I am not amused."
I wonder that too, my middle daughter would only miss needing a booster seat by one inch. She is 35 years old. If my sister was still living she would need a booster seat and would be 73 in August.
Exactly - there are adults who would “qualify”...obviously a attack on short people....maybe the song is what made him decide to go after them..
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason to live
They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around tellin’ great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes on their nasty little feet
Well I don’t want no short people
Don’t want no short people
Don’t want no short people ‘round here
(Short people are just the same as you and I)
A fool such as I
(All men are brothers until the day they die)
It’s a wonderful world
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody to love
They got little baby legs
They stand so low
You gotta pick ‘em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars that go “beep, beep, beep”
They got little voices goin’ “peep, peep, peep”
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They’re gonna get you every time
Well, I don’t want no short people
Don’t want no short people
Don’t want no short people ‘round here
I think laws like this are anti-children. When I was a kid no one heard of an SUV, some people had conversion vans but minivans hadnt been created yet. Most people I knew rode in cars with a bench seats up front and in back that were made to hold six. If you had more kids than seats, the little kids sat on laps or down in the footwells.
Seatbelts are a big safety improvement over how we did things back then and it is nice for each person to have their own seat, but have you ever tried fitting 3 car seats or boosters across the back seat of a car? Even larger sedans cant do it. That means if you are a parent of three you have the expense not just of car seats and boosters, but you have to buy something big with a third row. To a young family scraping to make ends meet the cost of that van or SUV is yet another expense that makes that third child daunting. Families of five kids are almost unheard of now, but laws like this will make families that size buy a minibus just to get the kids around.
The point is to make kids too expensive and difficult under the guise of keeping them safe.
Keep your child in a booster seat until he or she is big enough to fit in a seat belt properly. For a seat belt to fit properly the lap belt must lie snugly across the upper thighs, not the stomach. The shoulder belt should lie snugly across the shoulder and chest and not cross the neck or face. Remember: your child should still ride in the back seat because its safer there.
Seems to me seat belt fit is the most important criterion. If the seat belt doesn't fit properly, reaching an arbitrary age or weight requirement won't make an ill-fitting seat belt fit any better.
“Booster seats would be necessary until children reach 4 feet 9 inches tall.”
That is already the law in New Jersey. Also, in New Jersey, children under 12 years old cannot be in the front seat unless the number of passengers makes that necessary so that they - the kid under 12 yrs old - will at least have a seat belt.
New Jersey has very detailed laws about kids in cars, what kind of booster seat or seat belt they must have, when they must have them, whether or not they must be in rear-facing child’s seat in the rear passenger seat area - and other stuff.
Statistics are supreme over common sense, and sheeple cannot be allowed to use common sense - just follow the law to a T and you’ll all be fine; or else you’ll pay the fines. /sarc
