IMHO Most people are not interested in the fundamentals of their own religion, and are content with having other people , like priests, ministers etc. tell them what it is all about.

Being interested in the details of someone else's religion is a non- starter. They just want the Reader's Digest version, or it explained in 25 words or less. - Tom
