The blue Angel’s airframes are about the oldest in the fleet.

I recall an article saying they take used aircraft from the fleet. I wonder if their new models will also be used.

I would tend to think so. Makes sense that the newest aircraft be at the pointy end of the sword, i.e. on active duty.

I imagine that they will be since they strip out a lot of the equipment that is only needed for an operational fighter squadron. The weight savings gives the Blues a bit more power/weight ratio. You wouldn't want to do this with new air frames just off the assembly line.
