Maybe the FBI should stop the Mexican military from crossing the border and disarming US troops.

I feel so much safer now. But here’s a wee suggestion. If FBI agents have so much energy why not put them on the border and let THEM detain the people trying to cross illegally? I think the climate and job variation experience would do wonders for their morale.

So when you see a burglary in progress and you hold detain the criminals until the police arrive you are now committing a crime?

Arrested the wrong people. Probably FBI coached by Comey or McCabe, or Strok or Paige, or Ohr or hell, even the big 00000 himself. There it is.

This country has has completely lost its way.

Even with trump in office the left is running the show. Feels like trump is the finger in the crack in the dam. Everything he does is knocked down by Obama and Clinton judges. Sometimes it just feels completely hopeless.

Just to be clear and I am sure you know this, but these folks are willingly arrested so that they can claim “asylum” under our laws to be released into the interior U.S. with a distant future court date. During the time they are released pending adjudication of their asylum claim they can “have a child” and they will be allowed to stay because their child is a U.S. citizen. They can also hide like millions of others to avoid deportation if they do not show up for their court date (they don’t even have a fixed address - it’s all kinds of flawed).

More important than the wall (it is important) is to change our immigration laws to prevent these loopholes. Until we change those they will come by any means necessary to include walking into a port of entry to claim asylum and there is nothing law enforcement can do because that is the law. They can find work with fraudulent documents and employers who also game the system with no consequences.

The wall is necessary, but it is one part of a much larger problem. Assuming the wall is effective they will come to our shores by boat and we still have the same problem. Fix the laws and we can fix the problem. Fail to fix the law and build a wall and we will have less illegal immigration, but we will still have it and they will find alternate means of ingress by water or through Canada (already happening).

Trump understands this, but he has little support in congress among either party.

It pretty much is because we cannot even get a majority of the GOP critters to stop it. The Chamber of Commerce is more powerful than the will of the GOP voters. The open borders crowd is more powerful in the DNC than union and blue-collar democrats.

F the FBI. Damn communists, all of the Federal Government. Americans have lost their freedom. Why cannot most real Americans see that?

“Citizen’s Arrest Felonies. A person can arrest someone that they reasonably suspect of committing a felony,...”

“Repeatedly entering the U.S. illegally now a felony”

So you should be able to arrest an illegal assuming they are trying to re-enter the US again and hold them until Border Patrol can arrest them and clears up their status. But no the government is again siding with the illegals after filing to fix the problem for 30 years.

Soros said to his son:

“There are two paths to security for our people. Open the door on the right and you’re in the IDF. But you’ll find you’re doing many of the same things Nazis are criticized for; manning checkpoints, stopping people in the street to check their papers, kicking down doors in the middle of the night. Not nice. But instead take the door on the left? You can simply work for open borders. Eventually you find you are but one of very many minority groups until one day you go almost ignored.”

So that’s the plan.

They don’t so much hate this guy they arrested as much that they worried that his actions could inspire many to do likewise.

They’re trying to make him an example.

What almost surely happened:

A hateful activist group similar to the SPLC (if not the actual SPLC) dug deeply into his past, noting the felony. Then they saw photos and films of him armed. Then they contacted similar rabid people working in the FBI.

So the real lesson here is:

1. Some powerful groups in the USA have a strong interest in keeping the borders open permanently

2. The FBI seems okay working as Gestapo on behalf of the groups in #1 above, who regard themselves as The Real US Government.

you should be able to arrest an illegal

The latest twist from the feds and the state governments is to claim that someone doing a citizen's arrest is "impersonating a police officer" and therefore guilty of that crime. No doubt they will use the testimony of the illegal aliens who will say "I thought he was a police officer" just after they say "I want asylum because I am in danger of my life in Honduras"

Wouldn't it be nice to have a government that wasn't corrupt?

It is possible for the sheriffs of these border counties
to deputize citizens for the purpose of detaining illegal
alien invaders.

https://www.justice.gov/jm/criminal-resource-manual-1918-arrest-illegal-aliens-state-and-local-officers

I don’t believe the person the FBI has arrested is the
groups leader. These guys have regular meetings with
border patrol, and rules of engagement are stressed. The
illegals are falsely reporting armed detention.
Border Patrol officers don’t draw their weapons when
in the presence of illegals unless threatened. These
guys don’t either.

If you are a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, yes that’s a crime. That’s why he was arrested.

What was the felony? When and where was it committed? When was he convicted? And was he actually in possession of a firearm during this action or was he in the presence of others who were legally in possession of firearms? I can’t seem to find the answers to any of these questions. Can you?

I don’t believe the person the FBI has arrested is the
groups leader.

He sounds like a person with a history of exaggeration which at one time got him convicted of a “Felony of False pretenses” or telling people exaggerated nonsense to get money from them. He does not appear to be “a dangerous felon who should not have weapons around children and families” as described by New Mexican officials.

I think that he is “a leader” in the group not necessarily “the leader” of the group. He is obviously the low hanging fruit, arrested to make it appear that the FBI is still doing the bidding of the Obama administration. We wouldn't want the cheap labor express to get the idea that citizens groups can now stop their felonious activities.

So how do they know he was armed at the time.
Did the Border patrol document he was armed in a legally provable way that would hold up in court? or are they going to use testimony from the detainees who will swear he was armed?
