I am so tired of this crap. The only children who go to bed hungry are those being abused or neglected by their parents. In addition to the food stamps program and WIC, children receive “free” breakfast, lunch, and a take-home meal at school throughout the year. In addition, there are food banks, church pantries, and many other private charities that feed people.

The other thing that makes me mad is the so-called poverty statistics. They do not count non-cash government benefits when they report these phony stats. A family can be getting food stamps, Medicaid, “free” Head Start programs and public schools for the kiddies, “free” or subsidized housing and utilities, even a free phone, and have the income they deem as being poverty level and still be considered poor.

Have you ever watched the shows where they show people in housing projects? Look at the cars, the expensive cell phones (not the cheapo Obamaphones), the clothing, the expensive manicures, etc. This is poverty??? Real poverty is found in Venezuela, not the US. The only desperately poor people in the US are street people who are addicts, mentally ill, or just choose to live that way. It’s all a giant scam.

And the free school breakfasts, and lunches are not deducted from the family’s foot stamp allowance. And many schools provide “backpacks” for weekends so the kids don’t starve when they aren’t getting a school lunch. And school are now providing free lunches for everyone under 18 (or who looks like they could be under 18) for anyone during summer vacation. Of course to criticize any of this is hateful.

I saw a thing on the Pittsburgh Penguins a couple years ago. It was a piece showing the Pens players giving back to the community during Christmas. They go into the house of some poor kids to give them gifts the “probably would not receive otherwise”. As they step through the door you see a huge flat screen TV (60+ inches) and a PlayStation and games all over the place. That stuff ain’t cheap.

“Poor” people in this country are some of the richest people on the planet. Everything is relative.
