Notre Dame has been undergoing extensive renovation and the fire has apparently started in the area of the renovation. One can see the scaffolding around the outside of the nave. I’m holding judgement on to how or who it started, for now.

Here are some photos of the structure at the top. Lots of wood.

First smoke noticed 5-10 minutes after the close of doors for the day to the public ? Exactly enough time for an arsonist to have snuck in to the upper construction areas , set a timed ignition device and made his escape with the departing crowd .

Renovations in progress make an arson attack much easier to carry out, there are a lot of unknown people around and an arsonist can easily blend in with workers.

I keep reading about these renovations but some of us know who have visited over a 25 year period that it is always undergoing renovations - in fact, I’ve stuck a few francs and then Euros into the little donation boxes set up for the purpose of renovations. So why suddenly a fire? Why not 20 years ago? What’s changed if anything?

Even if it was accident, somebody’s butt should go to prison for a long time. It’s 700 year old Notre Dame cathedral, you think they’d be a little careful. But I don’t think it was an accident.
