Federal appeals Judge Christopher F. Droney said Monday that he is retiring from active service, a decision certain to focus attention on how President Trump, who has vowed to remake the federal judiciary, chooses a Connecticut lawyer to fill a vacancy on one of the nation’s most influential courts.
Droney notified the judiciary by letter that he will assume senior status June 30 on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. As a senior judge, Droney remains a member of the court, but with reduced responsibilities.

I suspect a lot of these “Clinton Judges” stuck around, thinking they would be replaced by Fellow Travelers by another Clinton. I imagine a good number will hang on for 2020. If Trump is reelected and we keep the Senate, a good number of those holdouts will give up or be forced by health to retire. Just remember that some of GW Bush’s appointments were in collusion with liberal Senators to get a Blue Slip from them, and vote against us on key conservative issues. If Trump prevails in 2020, the 9th Circuit may be isolated as the last refuge of Liberal Judges, and even there, it might be pretty close to evenly split.

There are 4 R appointed at present, 2 pending vacancies, makes 6 R appointed. Droney replacement makes 7 R appointed and his leaving makes 6 D appointed remaining.
One R appointed is retiring next month so POTUS can fill that slot with a young judge.
Even better two of the Clinton appointees were born in 1938 & 1940 and may soon retire increasing the majority.

We desperately need another conservative judge on the 3rd CC.
The 3rd Circuit has already been flipped from Democrat to Republican. It’s 7-6 with one vacancy. When the last vacancy is filled, it would be 8-6.
With 4 Anti 2A bills in the works in Delaware we will be in the Courts soon. We need all the help we can get!
