President Trump said Monday he will award pro golf great Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on the heels of his comeback win at last weekend’s Masters Tournament.
“Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!” Trump tweeted.
Woods’ victory on Sunday gave him his 15th major championship win and his fifth Masters title.
So it seems “trophies for all” isn’t limited just to little league baseball.
Tiger is a POS.
The Medal of Freedom is just a gimmick. All it means is that a president likes your views, or else wants to be in a picture with you. But in a time when Blexit is a real thing, giving it to Tiger is good political timing.
The man had his spine fused just 2 years ago. What an amazing achievement.

This thread has shocked me.
I never had much of an opinion on Tiger, but in short, he was a phenom, fell to the depths of depravity, faced it, fought his way back an won against other champions. Classic second act story arc redemption story.
I never had much of an opinion on Donald Trump until I did my own research in summer 2015 an discovered he was a true American that I would vote for. He, and his family take unending personal attacks, he donates his entire salary and has become a great President. He also prevented everyone here from enduring a Mrs Clinton presidency.No biggie right?
So after taking crap all day, every day, he wants to give his friend an award that has already been established and categorized by others and have a nice ceremony where both can shine.
But FReepers can’t abide. It’s stupid to them(not all, obviously).

Very baffled by this decision.
Rush talked a lot about this in his first hour today, talking about the surgeries, pain meds, and making a great comeback.
Then I remembered that Rush had same problems with pain meds and he also came back and praised the counseling he went through.

Tiger had a change of heart in how he behaved. He grew from the incident. Liberals heads will explode over this.
Yeah, not too many are familiar with this medal or the reasons why it might be awarded:
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is awarded by the President of the United States for especially meritorious contribution to:
1) The security or national interests of the United States
2) World peace
3) Cultural or other significant public or private endeavors
I'll bet you were pretty outraged when Nixon gave it to John Wayne.
After all, the Duke was just an actor who made movies and dodged the draft.
