As he weighs a U.S. Senate run, Democrat Jon Ossoff is sharpening a populist message that echoes his partys liberal wing: a pledge to stop criminalizing poverty, a promise of a debt-free higher education system, a vow to legalize recreational marijuana and a guarantee of health insurance for all Americans.
The former 6th District candidates remarks came at a student-organized town hall at a rec center in Atlanta on Saturday that also featured Staci Fox of Planned Parenthood, who said the group is developing a worst-case scenario plan that could involve bringing women seeking abortions to more liberal states if the heartbeat bill isnt blocked in the courts.
He emphasized the need for a economic and technological mobilization to fight climate change, criticized the anti-abortion House Bill 481 and earned the loudest ovation from the students for promising to end the broken student debt system that traps millions in decades of anxiety.
Planned Parenthood and its allies are developing a backup plan if the law, which takes effect in 2020, survives legal scrutiny.
This is emotional and hard to talk about for a lot of us, [Staci Fox] said. But we are planning for where we know abortion will remain safe and legal, how we increase access in those places and building the transportation networks whether its taking a woman from Georgia to New York or getting a woman in Georgia out into international waters in the coast of Savannah.

Two dozen candidates? Am I bid 2 dozen?
Oops, Senatorial prospect, not Presidential.

How do people like this guy take an oath of offic? They swear to God to uphold and protect the constitution without reservation
They dont even read it they hate it and they have no intention of doing what they promise to God to do
I don’t have a problem if a state wants to pursue legalization of marijuana and has it as a public ballot initiative. But trying to focus some US Senator/Representative race, or Presidential race....on legalization, and trying to force legalization across all fifty states, is fairly wrong. If these people want to stay local and just work this topic as a state-only situation, go for it.
As for Ossoff....isn’t he just another economics ‘expert’? The only jobs in his background? Some months working for a House Representative, a junior-league CEO of a film company, and a producer of one single video documentary piece? That’s it? Come back in ten years when there’s more on the resume.
If your wondering just looked it up, Ossoff is still engaged.
He was a consummate post turtle that the Dems spent ~$25 million on to lose the special election to fill Tom Prices seat. Unfortunately the organizing that spend created overcame a lot of Republican state house seats in the next regular cycle last Fall, as well as the 6th District seat. The current holder of that seat is a woman who is properly intersectional and has seen personal tragedy involving a firearm, and was a flight attendant. So clearly shes a wonderful choice to oversee the FedGov.
Maybe he should team with Beto. Two peas from the same pod.
Anybody ask ossoffs boyfriend what they think of the idea?
Dead Babies and Free College..
Sounds like a radical band....Like the Dead Kennedy’s...
Wow he’s got a very different platform, legalize marijuana and free healthcare for everyone!

More government control.
That’s not an agenda for traditional Georgia, it’s an appeal to Atlanta metro and millennials who have been brainwashed into thinking pot is completely harmless.
