New Oregon Secretary of State Bev Clarno has fired top executives hired by her predecessor. Many observers fear that this signals a major change in the office, and a closer alignment with Democratic Governor Kate Brown. Brown appointed 83-year-old Clarno, a former Republican speaker of the House, to fulfill the remainder of the term for Dennis Richardson, who died in office in February.
On Monday, April 1, Secretary Clarno's first day in office, she dismissed Deputy Secretary of State Leslie Cummings, chief of staff Deb Royal, and governmental and legal affairs director Steve Elzinga. Sources told PJ Media that Clarno did not personally tell the executives that they were no longer employed, but rather had the HR department carry out the firings with no notice or infill plan. Many Oregon voters have expressed concern that Richardson's legacy was being undermined with these actions, and openly wondered at the motivations for appointing Clarno to the position.

I’ve often thought that maybe central/eastern Washington and central/eastern Oregon should split off and form their own state; leaving Seattle and Portland together in a new state where the liberals can live together in their own dog doo.
Eastern OR & WA should merge with Idaho. The lefties are busy trying to take over here. We need some shoring up!

As a conservative woman, I always think twice about voting for a republican female. They are too easily swayed to the left IMHO. Only if they are the lesser of two evils i.e. choice between DemonRAT and pubbie female.
A Republican politico in Oregon is equal to a slightly less demented DC Dem. Slightly.
Sad friggin’ setrep. We’re pretty much in the same boat in NV as well. Vegas controls the state now just like the coast controls OR. Blue state blues.
It’s not even the coast that controls Oregon. Coast does not have that large of a population. It’s nearly all Portlandia. Even the capital, Salem, is in a county that went for Trump. Even Benton County, home of Oregon State Universety, went for Trump.
Of course, a county going for Trump does not define all political tendencies.
Oh yeah...gender and race have no impact on my vote. An adide... I have a friend currently running for school board whose opponent is 19 year old Mexican son of “immigrants”... (illegals who are voting)...union is pushing him...going to be interesting.

Well, I guess this had to be expected for any “Republican” this far-left governor would have considered appointing.
That guy and his orgs have worked tirelessly to chip away under the surface to elect people to supposedly “unimportant” offices that don’t get much attention...keep chipping, and chipping, and chipping like that on this “low level” offices and it has a real and serious impact. It is indeed genius...though certainly not good.
