These were published reports from Ecuador he was commenting on. I’ve seen other articles commenting on the same reports - Ecuador told us why they booted him out. I believe his Wiki actions were ultimately a positive but it turns out he’s also a pretty big jerk.

Manning is currently incarcerated for refusing to testify in a Grand Jury Hearing re: Assange.
For good or ill, Manning, by order of the former President had his 35 year sentence commuted after serving 7 years.
And fwiw, Manning had a Top Secret Security Clearance. He did not have to hack anything. What he did try to do was come up with a common user login to cover his tracks.
