Why not eliminate the federal income tax instead? Allow people to keep their own money.
Budget is 4.7 trillion cut out dep of hud ed commerce energy medicaid foodstampts disability cut the 1000 down to 600 and it seems almost plausible and if we cut social security by that much for seniors well almost plausible
He prefers that all the currently vacant jobs stay that way...give them enough ‘free’ stuff and they will come....
Right - and if he got that to the “House” - democrats would decide only their pet victim groups should have the money. Do a ‘means test’ on it and basic income becomes welfare.
Agreed.
That was back in the day when the “Protestant work ethic” was a foundation stone of the US. The average person considered it disgraceful to be considered a loafer.
Shame, when appropriately applied, was considered a good thing.
Now, the Satanic dictum, “do as thou wilt” & “don’t judge me” have become the standards. We must never, ever feel guilt, no matter how disgraceful our behavior.
I wonder why the homeless encampment-dwellers aren’t at the very least issued garbage bags & required to pick up their own trash. Instead, cities are paying “nonprofit” employees to “document” the locations of the feces, syringes, & trash heaps, while others are paid to attempt cleanup in a sensitive manner that wont risk hurting homeless people’s feelings.
“Thou shalt earn thy bread by the sweat of thy brow” comes from the Bible, so we can’t even suggest that anymore, because “separation of church & state.”
You’re assuming all the other welfare programs with their massive money-sucking bureaucracies would be scrapped,& replaced with a UBI, and recipients would be forced to budget their $1000 “paycheck” to pay for food & housing.
That assumption would be wrong.
The UBI, along with a massive bureaucracy of its own (of unionized employees grateful to Democrats for their bean-counting jobs) would be added on top & in addition to the other programs.
It’s what Democrats do.
The objective isn’t to help the working poor.
It’s to create MORE government dependency, MORE government jobs & buy MORE votes while destroying capitalism, the free market & private property.
You, just hasn’t gotten to that part of the issue yet.
UBI would be relatively good IF the bureaucracy was replaced, which it won’t be.
