Why would Cruz think closing the land border affects the ability of Texas with some of the worlds largest seaports like Port Houston to have goods shipping both to and from Central/South America and Mexico ?
Some advisor probably told him that making such a statement will help shore up his support amongst Texas Hispanic voters!
