Southern IL needs to be its own state. Downstate IL is beautiful and have one of the largest coal reserves in the world, but they can't touch it because of elites in Springfield by way of Chicago.
Chicago simply has too much power. No area of any state should have control over a state. Here in WI, Milwaukee and Madison calls the shots. IL is all red and voted for Trump except for Cook County and some of the collar counties, which kept the state blue.

Blame Reynolds v. Sims, which mandated the one-man, one-vote nonsense for both houses of each state’s legislature, thus causing power to be concentrated in populous parts of the states.

Just what America needs, 2 more Dem Senators from Chicago in perpetuity.
Terrible idea.

Its much the same way with Michigan and the Tri-County area. Get away from metro Detroit and Michigan is quite conservative.

Same here, in MN. We get blamed for Omar, Franken, Klobuchar, and the rest of the idiots, but the state is bright red, if you get 15 miles outside of Mpls/St.Paul, Duluth and Rochester.
