I agree this is nothing like the war of northern agression. this will be a war against the killing of babies. how do you divide the country up along those lines? Most abortions are performed on poc . do we start a race war to save the black race from self destruction?

One side wants control. The other side wants freedom. There is no reconciling these differences. The gap is simply too wide.

I once thought that we were heading toward what might be referred to as “virtual secession” wherein conservative states, or blocks of states would effectively decide to go their own way with respect to their own interests and principles. The Left has already set a precdent for this by establishing their illegal sanctuary cities in direct contravention to federal law. So its not too far fetched to think that conservative states might do something similiar to assert their own indenpendence with respect to issues that impinge on their soverignty and the will of a majority of their residents.

However, the Left probably won’t accept a dose of their own medicine as they are hell bent on controlling the country. They have undermined our elections, politically weaponized our federal agencies, turned the courts into a vanguard for their own agenda, indoctrinated our children in leftist ideology, and do not even recognize the soverignty of the United States.

The Left has escalated its culture war and its expansion of government control to the point where there is no path toward any accomodation with them. In short the differences are irreconcilable.

Conservatives should not retreat. They should defend their interests and push back on the Left at every opportunity. Elect only those politicians who will take the Left to task and demand that they push back hard against them. This is political war.

About the CWII Ping List

The CWII Ping List is short for Civil War II. It is NOT a list of people advocating another Civil War in America. It is a list of people who are interested in the parallels between the Civil War (or War Between the States, if you prefer) and our current situation, or more generally are noting the references to a 'coming Civil War' that are made in the press.

Of course sometimes this is merely a figure of speech, such as "The Tea Parties are fighting a civil war for the heart of the GOP". This would not merit a CWII ping.

On the other hand someone saying something like "The events in California are reminiscent of what happened in Yugoslavia in the period proceeding the Civil War" would merit a ping.

FR rules do not permit advocating for the overthrow of the Republic, and I am not aware of anyone doing so on the list. Still many do see that as the political climate worsens we may be heading in a direction that makes such a conflict all but inevitable, particularly if other avenues for resolving our differences are taken away. Such as widespread vote fraud by leftists making elections meaningless, or a small cadre of judges over-ruling all attempts to end destructive policies over the clear will of the people.

I see a way out. Article V.

I do not see the Article V convention as a way to avoid the next Civil War. At best it will be a distraction from the inevitable. More likely such a convention will be instantly co-opted by the Leftists, with an extremely predictable and unfavorable result.

Too many people want Socialism. They will not be persuaded otherwise by any legalistic or rational arguments. They will follow the leaders who promise "free stuff" (at somebody else's expense). Most of them will be cheated, but that will not stop them.

There will be war. The victors will purge the vanquished from any positions of authority and take what they have. The vanquished will die in resentful poverty and be mostly forgotten.

That is how history has always worked.
