'Mirian Zelaya Gómez' was arrested March 27 in Dallas, Texas, after assaulting a woman with a gun....Her sister 'Mirna Zelaya' was also arrested by authorities in relation to the incident....Both women have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and are being held on a $10,000 bond.

Mirian Zelaya Gómez and her child eventually were admitted to the United States in December 2018.

I wish to hell that the media would get their act together in reporting names in a format recognizable to the English speaking world:

Mirian Zelaya-Gomez
Mirna Zelaya

1/ Note the hyphen
2/ We rarely use accent marks
3/ Gomez is her mommy’s family name, as if any of us cares.

All in all, the adding of a hyphen is the most important. Using Gomez as the family name allows lots of people to skate out on charges.
