Even Bryan spent his last days here in Tennessee defending Christianity in schools as the left was looking to purge it (Scopes).

The left was fighting to allow evolution to be taught in Tennessee schools. That isn’t a good example of religious purging. For that matter, Scopes was just a substitute teacher who never actually taught evolution in class.

The whole thing was an exercise in putting Dayton on the map.

But that is precisely where it was going. That’s why the Communist ACLU was 100% behind it. Once they got the foot in the door, it was a pretext to purge biblical standards in schools. Mission accomplished.
