Democrat Fritz Hollings, the man who raised the Confederate Flag at the South Carolina State House.

My most vivid memories of Fritz was in the 80’s during the PMRC hearings (The Tipper Sticker) and just how clueless he was in dealing with anything outside the beltway.
Say what you want about what gets people paying attention to the minutiae of Senate or House hearings but for me as a teenager it was the PMRC hearings and just how clueless people in Congress were to the meanings of lyrics of the songs they were chastising and taking out of context.
It taught me one very valuable lesson, they will like about anything to cement their positions and beliefs. Fritz Hollings disgusted me as a teenager.
That does not excuse what he did later in life.

Oh, bull.
No career politician is a “hero” for millions of Americans. They’re leeches sucking off people’s desires to make this a better place for our descendants and have absolutely NO value at all as human beings except maybe to fertilize the ground they’re buried in (and, in John McCain’s case, not even that, since I’m sure there are a lot of poisoned worms in the vicinity).
I mean - really. We’re supposed to mourn because some politician dies? Hell, I’d rather have a party because there’s one less of them on the earth.

Fritz Hollings was the democrat who brought back the Confederate Battle Flag and put it on the South Carolina State Flag. He was a racist - who got a pass from the liberal press because his name had a “D” next to it. No different than KKK Robert Byrd... another closeted democrat racist.

Rush Limbaugh tells a Fritz Hollings story about the time when Ted Kennedy was photographed with an attractive young woman in a sailboat, “It seems,” quipped Hollings, “that Senator Kennedy has changed his position on offshore drilling.”
According to this article, there were two Vice Presidents in April 2017. These people consider themselves the fact checking experts.
Hollings was one of the few Democrats to vote in favor of Clarence Thomas’ confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court.
That’s funny! I can imagine Fritz saying it with a soft southern drawl and a wink of his eye.

LOL, he did a better Foghorn Leghorn that the character itself.
Another for the category of “Wow, I had no idea that he was still alive.” I remember his Senate rant against MTV cartoon “Beaver and Buffcoat.”
