The GOP voters were always more like Trump and Buchanan, but Bush League Republicans controlled the party and kept anyone who would side with the citizens and the rule of law out of office.
Sometimes by helping to elect Democrats.

Yep.. We’ve complained for years about the Republican party chosing the candidates for us. There was no way they could get away with it in 2016.
