Dad said that Nixon was an underrated president. I read his autobiography and he did some good things, but he did some dumb things. Watergate was a coup...if they had the net (and FR) back then, who knows Comments

Above is Nixon speaking to students at Oxford, England after he was president. Amazing. He gives a thank you and some nice remarks, then just dives in to answering questions for the next 70 minutes. Most of it done with rowdy and loud protestors outside - although Nixon never skipped a beat when speaking.

“And I want to thank Student President James for that nice introduction, and to all of you for inviting me here. And even the folks outside - they are making me feel right at home!”

He makes an interesting observation at the end when he thanks them again, and says that one day America will have a president that attended Oxford - “Maybe even one of you!”

I think Nixon is just REALLY smart - or perhaps he had the “world plan of the Freemasons” in his back pocket where Bill Clinton was already mandated to be placed into the office. ;)

I should look into the dates more and see where Clinton was on his career path. Nixon was a political hound and would have been able to match up in advance who would be a likely candidate someday based on projected demographics.

Clinton had just become inaugurated as Governor in Arkansas. I imagine Nixon saw something in him as a rising political star.
