You are probably right. I spent a lot of time in Chicago over the years, and I am sad for what has happened to the city. Yes, downtown is nice, there are a ton of good restaurants, and people from the urban East coast are impressed, but the heart of the city - the neighborhoods, are in serious decline and the whole state is a financial mess. If I walked tonight in any of the old neighborhoods that were so familiar to me, there’s a disturbing percentage chance I’d wind up shot or dead. Seriously. I’m glad I don’t live there now, but I will still pray that things work out - somehow.
