All I know is in my little neck of the woods (NW Florida Panhandle), Ive been observing the JRROTC programs in the high schools for over 35 years and theyre doing an outstanding job of turning patriotic young high school students into patriotic young adults, the majority of them enlisting in the United States Armed Forces after graduation. I personally know four of them two are my grandsons. It also doesnt hurt that this area is heavily populated with active, reserve and retired military folks who serve as excellent patriotic examples for the youngsters to learn from and emulate.
I raised my grandsons and taught them the importance of respecting the flag, the sacrifices and contributions of our veterans, and how they could pursue a great future for themselves in this great country. Needless to say, my heart swells with pride concerning these four youngsters. They get it.
The high school ROTC programs seem full in Reno as well. During the Veterans Day parade they keep on coming. Hundreds of them.
