If you want a steady supply of avocados, particularly Southern California, just plant an avocado tree in your yard.
I grew one from seed and it’s now about 60 feet tall and has avocados on it just about all year long (they stay green and hard until picked).
I grew another one I got from the nursery that’s a different type, now I have avocados all year long.
I get so many I have to give most of them away.
The inland coastal valleys from San Diego all the way to San Francisco is great for growing them, just stay out of the frosty areas and add water.
Anyone recall what happened when the US blocked all imports from Iran in the 80s? Yep, basically ended all pistachio imports. There was virtually no pistachio production in the US. Horrors, Iran was the major producer for the world.
Then shazam, California developed into a major pistachio producer and then no one gave a good damn about Iran’s nuts.
