WASHINGTON — The day after the Green New Deal went down in a "stunt" Senate vote, Democratic leaders started changing the subject to climate initiatives more palatable to Middle America and less likely for Republicans to whack at.
On Wednesday, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the formation of the Senate Democrats’ Special Committee on the Climate Crisis, intended to form consensus on energy and environment policy. The same day, over in the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the Climate Action Now Act, which would keep the U.S. in the 2015 Paris Climate Accord.
After her press conference — where the Green New Deal’s biggest champion, freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), was noticeably absent — Pelosi refused to directly answer questions from reporters over whether her new bill is more in line with party position than the Green New Deal.
“This is a statement just supporting the Paris agreement. We have miles to go in terms of legislation,” said Pelosi, flanked by her large security detail and a flock of aides.

Climate change politics burn hot after Green New Deal vote
A day after the Senate blocked consideration of the Green New Deal, lawmakers from both parties were still talking about climate change. House Democrats pushed a plan to keep the U.S. in a global climate agreement, while Senate Democrats formed a special climate committee to match one in the House.

So Schumer says there’s a climate crisis which is so far invisible and no immigration crisis we can see on the evening news; if not on our streets. He wants to deal with the imagined crisis and ignore the visible one. Give me a foot of ocean level rise foe no more illegals anytime.
I’m remembering Rush’s countdown clock for the Bill Clinton presidency- 100 days held hostage, 99 days held hostage, etc. It was in his daily intro. Someone should do that with this and have a public countdown.
Heck if the world’s going to end in 11.8 years when you should get a 50 year mortgage.

Get a 30 year mortgage. Lower your current payments, and in 11.8 years you won’t have to pay anything. If you can, take out an equity loan as well, and buy a car or travel. Run up your credit cards too.
