I think I have struck the perfect balance in this previous message:

While the family reacted poorly, I still do not see the need for a SWAT-style raid. This is just more of the military-mentality of the police.

And for that matter, if the child WAS in jeopardy, would it not have been simple enough to state, through the door, that because of the situation and the awareness of law enforcement, that if the child dies or is injured, that the parents WILL be prosecuted for Manslaughter or Child Abuse, respectively? Then just leave it be.

In fact, you could simply state that failure to allow the child to be looked at could violate Child Endangerment laws, also resulting in a warrant and prosecution.

Anyone reasonable would give in under that legal threat, and anyone unreasonable needs to be charged anyways.

The SWAT-raid is unreasonable on society’s part, and thus, my issue.

Hammers/Nails.

Reno89519, you were pinged because I reviewed last night's thread and you were firmly on the side of the State. I think this is a reasonable compromise, don't you?

I never focused on the style of the action here, instead concerned with the child endangerment. SWAT-style is definitely over the top, and if that was what I was discussing, I’d have said so. The police are too militaristic and seem to want to play with those toys, to overreact, be the bullies because they can. Power has gone to their head. On these we agree. Thanks.
