The child was sick enough to take to the doctor. The doctor erred on the side of caution and thought the child may have meningitis, which is confirmed with blood tests, CT scan, etc. The doc called the hospital to test for these things and said expect the mom/child.
Mom decided child was better, called doc, said all better.
Later that evening, doc called mother to check on child. Mom did not answer phone.
What could possibly go wrong ......
