The number of migrant families and children entering the U.S. from Mexico is so high that Border Patrol is immediately releasing them instead of transferring them to the agency responsible for their release, forcing local governments to help coordinate their housing, meals and travel... The Del Rio and Rio Grande Valley sectors in Texas and the Yuma, Arizona, sector earlier announced that agents would begin to release families on their own recognizance. A Border Patrol official not authorized to speak on the matter said Wednesday that El Paso and San Diego planned on doing the same. Some sectors were not part of the change, including Tucson, Arizona and El Centro, California. Families are typically released with notices to appear in immigration court due to legal restrictions on detaining them and lack of holding space. Until now, Customs and Border Protection has detained them briefly before turning them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, generally within 72 hours, to be released pending the outcome of their immigration cases. The move came as Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen wrote to Congress asking for emergency funding for humanitarian and operational needs, and the ability to detain families together as long as necessary to deport people faster.

At this point, unless the border can be closed, why bother spending time and resources to even process them? We have the Leftist dream - an open border.
Or send them to Sanctuary Cities and tell those cities that they are obligated to keep them until they pay to send them home.
Send them all to Puerto Rico and Hawaii.

after the little girl died, the gov’t is bending over backwards to make sure they don’t have another PR nightmare. Those short term optics are worse than the long term project of the destruction of our country.
Its actually worse than that.
When they are processed by the Border Patrol they are given a "Notice to Appear" (NTA). They are now no longer undocumented aliens Now they have an NTA which legally authorizes them to be in the US until the time of their court hearing.
This gives them the ability to travel anywhere, pass through immigration check points, board aircraft basically do anything they want.
So you are correct the Border Patrol is being used to facilitate the human trafficking of illegal aliens.
By the way, the agents all know this and are seething with rage.

Is ANYONE trying to change these outrageous laws? I’ve heard congress being begged to do something, but nothing seems to happen.

I agree. I see no point. Just open the gate, and have buses waiting to take them to Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Chappaqua, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Malibu, etc.
Turn them back right at the border and then close it down immediately. Let Mexico deal with the problem they facilitate.
