Demographics ultimately determines the winners and losers in history and today’s world.

My read is that economies like China’s continue to grow only as long as Americans buy more and more of their stuff. That ceases to work when their economy begins to grow larger than America’s.

They could, in principle, continue growing, if they transformed themselves into another America, but I don’t think they want to. Celebrating personal initiative and individual liberty is just a bridge too far for them.

China’s biggest obstacle is its communist government.

China can only fix its demographic problem by having more children. It has already eliminated its one child per family policy, but family size is not increasing much and is still below replacement levels. The design of their cities to cram people into high density mega cities will ensure the birth rate stays below replacement.

On the other hand, we have a higher birthrate, but also immigration, which China will never have. We can stay younger than China for the foreseeable future.

My lovely wife is from China, “from” being the key operative word. She is in the process of becoming a citizen of the United States. She doesn’t understand how people here can support DemocRATS, she grew up hearing this crap day in and day out from the Chinese government.

They have 4 times as many people. Of course they will surpass us on TOTAL GDP. But on PER CAPITA GDP, no. Not unless they reduce their population considerably.

We shall see what happens.

The collapse of China is sort of a yearly theme that comes and goes in batches. It is a narrative that is voraciously read and eaten up by American Conservatives. Many of whom use Chinese computers, Chinese cell-phones, Chinese televisions and own cars with Chinese electronics, engines, brakes, and radios.

I've lived long enough to know that anything can happen and often what we want to happen is never what actually does happen.

Anyone remember the Ebola outbreak that was going to hit the USA? Or the Y2K that would throw the USA back to the stone age? How about how all the money to Haiti would lift the people out of poverty? Or how South Africa would be modernized by all the billions and billions of US dollars that Obama gave them?

This is from the South China Post. They have said this back in 2016, and back in 2014, 2013, as well as back in 2007, 2004, and even further back that I am too tired to research.

Beware of "news" that tells you what you want to hear.

There are other motives involved. I for one, will sit this all out with a wait and see approach. The Chinese are not stupid, nor are they communist. They are a very serious, serious nation that thinks with a long term vision, employs workers by merit, and punishes harshly for failure.

Compare that to the USA. With what our universities are churning out of colleges these day. Compare that to the modern American work ethic. Compare that to the bankers and lawyers that run America. Just compare.

If you think that the Chinese cannot compete against the modern American workforce. Great! America will rise up from the ashes...led forward with the new American leadership. It will be diverse. Politically correct, and wise to the ways of the hijab. China won't have a chance.

By certain measures, China’s economy has been bigger for about 5 years.

Remember the Christmas tree in he Obama Whitehouse was adorned with ornaments of moa tse tung? The left just idolizes and dreams of a china here, where a choice few elitists and their families will live the life of luxury and riches while they throw crumbs to their minions
