been there a couple of times on business. granted, on the west side...more “hellenized” than the interior, but you are correct as to your assessment of the people.

I visited several places there, including the ruins of Ephesus...it is stunning.

the food was excellent, too. Enjoyed my visits there, immensely.

Yes, Ephesus is amazing. The whole history is amazing.

In terms of hygiene, food safety, general cleanliness, Turkey is far better than Greece. But in terms of instruction, it is Hellenistic history that is taught, emulated, respected and meshed with Islamic history in the schools and universities of Turkey.

Still, the rural farmers, although simple and plain, they respect politeness towards all including foreigners rather than jihad. All these elements make for a safe society and a pleasant place to visit.

There are many Christians native to Turkey still living there. This move by Erdogan must be very distressing to them.
