I thought dr. Pepper was owned by coca cola. It’s sold as a coke product.
So, is this even accurate news?

Mr. Pibb is a coke product. Dr. Pepper is usually advertised with the Pepsi products. :)

Dr Pepper is a separate company from coke or pepsi. It is distributed by both coke and pepsi (varies from market to market) so it usually shows up in grocery stores as one or the other, but is a separate company.

Dr Pepper is not a part of the Coca-Cola brand family. Never has been. It was formerly known as Dr Pepper Snapple Group, and marketed such brands as Dr Pepper, 7-Up, Canada Dry, Schweppes and Snapple. It was acquired by Keurig Green Mountain in July, 2018, and changed its name to Keurig Dr Pepper at that time. The parent company of Keurig Dr Pepper is JAB Holding Company.

I thought dr. Pepper was owned by coca cola. No, it never has been. They do contract with Coca Cola bottlers to produce and market it in many areas. Keurig owns them now. Before that, Cadbury.
Although they are owned by yankees, they still have a major operation in Texas (in a city that's been overtaken by Yankees and Asians.)
